Master blaster Saim Ayub will not be able to play in the ICC Champions Trophy due to injury, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
In this regard, former captain Shahid Afridi confirmed that opener Saim Ayub will not play in the Champions Trophy in a podcast interview on a private TV.
“I spoke to Saim Ayub on the phone yesterday and he told me that it may take me another three weeks to recover,” Shahid Afridi said.
Shahid Afridi said Saim Ayub's rehab will start after recovering.
“As an elder brother, I advised Saim Ayub not to rush into the game if there is even the slightest pain,” Shahid Afridi said.
Shahid Afridi said he advised Saim Ayub to rest completely and come back to the team so that the injury does not become serious.
The form in which Saim Ayub was playing will definitely hurt Pakistan due to his injury, Shahid Afridi said. “We don't have Saim Ayub's backup ready”, Shahid Afridi said.
