PM orders arrest of kidnappers of Afghan ambassador's daughter

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday ordered the immediate arrest of culprits involved in the abduction of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter, reported 24News HD TV channel. 

PM directed Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed to utilise all resources to apprehend the culprits. He has further directed the Interior Minister that Islamabad Police and other law enforcement agencies must investigate the incident on top priority, bring up the truth of the matter and apprehend the culprits within 48 hours.

The foreign office spokesman said the law enforcement agencies were actively engaged in operations to arrest the culprits involved in the abduction and torching of Silsila Alikhil, 27. The spokesman said that the security of the Afghan ambassador and his family had already been reinforced.  

The incident happened on Friday around 2:30 PM near Rana Market, an area of Kohsar Police Station. The daughter of Afghanistan’s ambassador to Pakistan was abducted in Islamabad, held for several hours, and brutally attacked, was later released in F-9 Park. 

According to the hospital medical report, she suffered blows to her head, had rope marks on her wrists and legs, and was badly beaten. There was a suspicion that she had several broken bones and X-rays were ordered.

The report also said her abductors held her for over five hours and that she was brought to the hospital in Islamabad by police. There were no details about the abduction itself or the circumstances of her release.

Pakistan called the attack “disturbing” and said that security at the residence of the Afghan ambassador in Islamabad has been reinforced. 

PPP leader Nayyar Bokhari has demanded the resignation of Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed over the issue. he said that the abduction of the Afghan ambassador's daughter was a sensitive issue and a big question on the performance of the PTI government. He demanded immediate investigation regarding the matter as well.
