Pentagon (the US Department of Defence) has expressed sorrow over the martyrdom of military personnel in the Bannu attack, saying Washington will continue anti-terrorism cooperation with Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said in a media briefing that Pakistan has been making efforts against terrorism. “We express sorrow over the martyrdom of military personnel in the Bannu attack and extend condolences to the affected families,” he added.

The spokesperson further stated that Pakistan and the US have been working together on counter-terrorism efforts and continue to discuss ways to collaborate.

“Security relations and cooperation with Pakistan will continue. Pakistan has faced difficult conditions in the region and has made efforts for counter-terrorism. We have cooperated with Pakistan in counter-terrorism,” Ryder said.

When asked about providing advanced US weapons to Pakistan, the spokesperson said he had no announcements to make.

Pakistani and US officials remain in contact with each other, and whatever happens will be done through mutual consultation. Security cooperation relations with Pakistan will be maintained.
