Pakistan’s rice exports to Russia will receive a boost as Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance has allowed 15 more Pakistani rice mills to export rice.
According to sources, the Department of Plant Protection (DPP), an attached department of the Ministry of Food Security and Research has played a vital role in getting recognition of rice mills to increase the country’s exports.
In August 2019, Russia banned the export of Pakistani rice due to the presence of pesticides and insects in the rice.
Only 4 rice mills meeting the quality standards were allowed to export rice from Pakistan to Russia in October 2021.
With the efforts of the Ministry, now 19 rice factories from Pakistan can export rice to the Russian Federation.
This achievement is expected to significantly contribute to the growth of Pakistan’s exports and enhance the overall economy of the country.
