Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, who was recently removed from the post of special assistant to prime minister on information and broadcasting, says her opponents are doing a malicious propaganda against her that she has quit, but she will never quit and she will always look into the eyes of her opponents.

Addressing a public meeting in Head Marala on Sunday, Firdous said she was keeping silent due to the prevailing situation and instructions from the party leadership. She warned the “black sheep in the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)” to stop maligning her from behind the scenes. She said that she would expose the “black sheep in the PTI”.

Firdous said that baseless allegations were levelled against her and a malicious propaganda campaign was ran against her. She said that those who have the proof that she misused her official powers should show that proof to people. And if they failed to bring the proof, she said, they should be ready to face the humiliation they deserve.

Firdous said the cheap people who did this malicious propaganda against her had been sent legal notices. She said that such black sheep in the PTI would be thrown out soon. She said that those selling fake news on TV talk shows would disappear after Eidul Fitr.

The former director general of ISPR, Lt Gen (R) Asim Saleem Bajwa, had replaced Firdous as Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting on April 28. Hence, ever since the PTI formed its government with its allies in 2018, the information ministry would have formally two members of the cabinet to take care of it.

Firdous had replaced Chaudhry Fawad Hussain in April last year, who remained federal minister for information for less than a year.
