Prime Minister Imran Khan has alerted the world over mass arrests of youth in Occupied Kashmir by the Indian authorities, reminding the international community of the human rights violations being committed by the Modi-led Indian government in the Held Valley.

In a series of tweets on Sunday, Imran Khan stated that the right to struggle for self-determination of Kashmir has been guaranteed in UN Security Council resolutions and the Modi-led government has a clear agenda of depriving Kashmiris of their basic right of self-determination.

Imran Khan also added that the inhumane weapons like pellet guns against women and children and imposing an inhumane lockdown has deprived Kashmiris of basic necessities from food to medicines and mass arrests of Kashmiris youth is a matter of concern. Moreover, Kashmir has been totally isolated from the world by cutting off all communication links.

Imran Khan reminded the international community that right for self-determination has been guaranteed in UNSC Resolutions and India is now trying to create an opportunity for a false-flag operation against Pakistan while detracting world attention away from Indian state terrorism in Occupied Kashmir.

It is pertinent to mention that there have been repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement by India during the past couple of days and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has already warned that Indian troops will always receive a "befitting response" to ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC)

Ram Guha Interview with The Wire

A well-known Indian author and historian Ramachandra Guha, in an interview with The Wire, says the Covid-19 crisis has become an opportunity to ventilate anti-Muslim sentiments and Islamophobia.

He says in large parts of northern and western India anti-Muslim sentiment is “a disturbing and distressing aspect of our compatriots.” Guha says the present surge in Islamophobia, both in India and by Indian expatriates in the Gulf, has led to “an extraordinary drop in India’s global standing, (it’s done) huge damage to India’s image. We have no friends more or less.”

Guha points out that PM (Narendra Modi) repeatedly uses Hindu imagery such as seven steps, Diyas, Lakshman Rekha and agni pariksha. Guha says this is part of a practice or tradition that has been well-established, the steady, systematic, deliberate conversion of India into a Hindu majoritarian state. He praises Udhav Thackeray for saying he will not allow Muslims to be demonized. He also compliments the chief ministers of West Bengal and Chhattisgarh for trying to stem the communalization of Covid-19.

Guha says Lav Agrawal’s frequent references to the Tablighi Jammat to explain the spread of Covid-19 is an incitement to polarisation, tendentious and mischievous. Lav Agrawal “is not doing it on his own, he’s been explicitly told to go ahead and do it. It is an instrument of the political establishment. Guha says he’s “doing what his bosses want”.
