Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed Monday confirmed that Shehbaz Sharif, Opposition Leader in National Assembly, name has been placed in the Exit Control List (ECL) after cabinet approval, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He said: “Shehbaz Sharif was a guarantor in the Nawaz Sharif case but he was trying to flee from the country via confirmed air ticket.”
Sheikh Rasheed said that Shehbaz Sharif did not produce any medical report before the government.
Sheikh Rasheed said that five members of Sharif family are already absconders.
Sheikh Rasheed further said that four out of 14 accused have become witnesses against Shehbaz Sharif.
“Shehbaz Sharif was running abroad even before the breakfast and Sehri, “Sheikh Rashid
“It will be difficult to bring Shehbaz back like Nawaz Sharif, if he goes abroad,” he said. “Shehbaz Sharif could apply for the review within 15 days,” Sheikh Rashid added.
The Interior Minister challenged that opposition to do what they wanted to do. The Minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was working during the holidays as well.
Sheikh Rasheed questioned that when Nawaz has not come back to the country, then how Shehbaz Sharif would return.
Earlier Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry took to Twitter to announce the development.
Fawad Ch wrote: “With the approval of the Cabinet and completion of legal regulations, the name of PML-N leader Shahbaz Sharif has been put on the exit control list and the relevant record has been updated in this regard.”
