Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi Wednesday chaired a special meeting to review the progress on the affairs relating to Government Central Model School, Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He directed to give priority to the students of the school in admission to the next classes. “The students of the school will be given 10 additional marks in the entrance test of class 6 to 10 and O-level,” he said.
He also directed to declare building of the school “Green Building”, adding that the ban on cutting trees in the school will be ensured during the construction and maintenance.
It was also suggested during the meeting to transfer the school building to solar energy in collaboration with the private sector.
The caretaker chief minister ordered to start the construction and maintenance of the building of Central Model School immediately.
“The beauty of the historic school building should be maintained,” he added also approved to provide free uniforms, shoes, stationery and notebooks to the students.
“No fee will be charged from the students in the new project of Central Model School,” he declared and gave approval to provide all books free to the Cambridge students.
“Every student will get Rs2,000 monthly scholarship and Rs250 daily conveyance allowance,” he declared and instructed to ensure registration of maximum number of students with the government schools.
The chief minister was briefed that over 16,000 students had been registered for exams in Central Model School.
The provincial ministers and officers concerned had attended the meeting.
Move to make Central Model School center of excellence challenged
The move to make the Government Central Model School a Center of Excellence has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Two separate petitions that were filed by the teachers and the parents of the students will be heard in the courts of Justice Shahid Karim and Justice Muhammad Raza Qureshi.
Government Central Model School teacher Muhammad Muzaffar Hussain Hashmi and 10 other teachers and the parents of the students had filed the petition.
