Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed to finalize a plan to facilitate people for issuing and renewing their identity cards at union council level across the country within a few days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
For issuing ID cards to citizens, biometric machines will be installed at every union council across Pakistan.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also sought a foolproof ID card system plan to make it better and faster.
Mohsin Naqvi issued these directives while visiting NADRA Headquarters in Islamabad on Friday.
On the occasion, the minister said that he visited NADRA centres, reviewed the situation and found that people are facing difficulties in getting new ID cards.
Mohsin Naqvi directed the authorities to prepare a plan aimed at facilitating the visitors at NADRA centres by working without delay.
Mohsin Naqvi asked for a plan to increase the number of NADRA centres in six major cities in seven days.
Mohsin Naqvi directed immediate steps for setting up more centres in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Mohsin Naqvi also ordered effective action to eliminate fake identity card mafia.
The interior minister also visited NADRA operational room. On the occasion, he was briefed about the digital monitoring system of NADRA centres across Pakistan.
Mohsin Naqvi appreciated the efforts of NADRA Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir and his team.
During his visit, Mohsin Naqvi also chaired a meeting in the conference room of NADRA headquarters. During the meeting, various proposals were reviewed to make NADRA more public-friendly.
Interior Secretary Khurram Agha and top officials of NADRA were also present on the occasion.
Naqvi congratulates newly-elected body of AEMEND
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the newly-elected President of the Association of Electronic Media Editors and News Directors (AEMEND) Azhar Abbas and other officials on Friday.
Mohsin Naqvi also expressed well wishes to the newly elected Senior Vice President Ayaz Khan, Vice President Muhammad Usman, Secretary General Tariq Mehmood and hoped that under the leadership of the newly elected president Azhar Abbas, the Association will continue to play its positive role in the development of electronic media. He added that undoubtedly, electronic media had developed rapidly in a short period of time.
He said that electronic media would have to adapt itself to modern technology as per the demands of the social media era.
The role of electronic media in promoting democratic values and solving social problems in the country is unquestionable, he added.
