Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Sunday that human rights are being violated in the country.
Talking to the media after offering his condolences to late Ilyas Bilour’s family in Peshawar, Fazl said that Pakistani citizens were being seen with suspicion in their own country. He that provision 8 was removed from the 26th constitutional amendment and now bulk legislation is being done.
Responding to a question about the upcoming protest of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Fazl said he has just returned from the United Kingdom and he has no knowledge of PTI’s protest. He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been facing the worst security situation for the last 15 years. He said that rulers are trying to save their government instead of paying attention to people’s problems. He said the government was wasting its energies in useless things. He said the JUI-F held talks for more than one month before finally moving ahead with its plan to stage a sit-in a few years ago.
Paying a tribute to Ilyas Bilour, Fazl said the late Awami National Party (ANP) leader was a well-known political and social figure of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that he was saddened by Bilour’s death.
