Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar have been told in a report that opposition Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) public meeting in Gujranwala violated all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) against the agreement and understanding reached earlier between the authorities and the rally organisers.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, it has been suggested to the federal and provincial governments not to allow the opposition to hold future public rallies.

The report stated that the agreement reached with the opposition was violated as participants did not wear masks and also did not maintain social distancing during the rally to stem the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

The report sent to Prime Minister Imran Khan stated the opposition leaders did not conclude their speeches and rally on time as agreed with the authorities.

In addition to that it was decided that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Vice President Maryam Nawaz would not address any gathering on her way to Gujranwala from Jati Umrah.

The TV channel reported it has also been suggested not to give permission for future meetings as the PDM show in Gujranwala violated all agreed rules and SOPs.

Sources maintained that Imran Khan will make all the future decisions regarding whether the opposition should be allowed or not to hold such gatherings. The sources also maintained that the provincial and federal ministers monitored the PDM public rally in Gujranwala.

It is worthy to mention that the PTI-led federal and Punjab governments termed the public rally as a flop show while the PPP, JUI-F and PML-N leaders termed the rally in Gujranwala Stadium “a beginning to topple Imran Khan’s government”.

The next public rally of the opposition alliance is going to be held on October 18 (Sunday) in Karachi’s Bagh-e-Jinnah.
