Announcing a reserved verdict, the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) on Monday declared the occupation of Rawalpindi’s Lal Haveli and six other units by former interior minister Sheikh Rashid and his brother ‘illegal’, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The ETPB, in its verdict, also said that the case had remained pending for the last 27 years due to ‘political influence exerted by the former interior minister.
Deputy Administrator Asif Khan had reserved a verdict in the case on September 26, 2022.
The Board further said that the applicant in the case had failed to produce any record that could show that he and his brother were the rightful owners of the haveli and other units. “Therefore, the application filed for the regularization and transfer of the property, in occupation of the applicant, is rejected,” read the verdict.
