NFRCC advises provinces to resolve seeds distribution issue

The National Flood Response Coordination Centre (NFRCC) on Monday advised the Ministry of Food Security and the provinces to immediately resolve the issue of procurement and distribution of seeds among farmers for the Rabi crop.

A meeting of the National Flood Response Coordination Centre (NFRCC) Monday was held under the Chairmanship of Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal and National Disaster Management Authority Chairman Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In the meeting, a briefing was given on water drainage measures in the flood-affected areas and also the progress made so far on the ongoing joint survey in the flood-affected areas was discussed.

A briefing about the inflow and outflow of water in rivers and dams was also given.

According to the stats, it was reported that the survey has been completed in 20 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 26 of Balochistan whereas the survey is underway in 22 districts of Sindh, six of Balochistan, 13 of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and two of Punjab.

The NFRCC spokesperson said that the teams conducting the surveys will be increased in number for firm and speedy completion.

Measures to supply Rabi crop seeds to the affected farmers were also discussed in the meeting. NFRCC Deputy Chairman said that the Ministry of Food Security and the provinces should immediately resolve the issue of procurement and distribution of seeds.

Briefing on the progress of setting up a model village for victims in Tank was also reviewed in the meeting.

NFRCC National Coordinator Lt Gen Zafar Iqbal, Officials of Ministry of Food Security, Provincial Secretaries of Agriculture participated in the meeting.
