The Mianwali police have fended off a terrorist gun attack, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
A spokesperson said the police had a tip-off that up to 12 terrorists were present in the hilly area in Makerwal police limits.
A special squad under DSP Isa Khel launched an operation, the official said, adding that the terrorists fired shots at the lawmen as soon as they noticed their movement.
He added the lawmen retaliated against the gun attack making the hardcore criminals flee into KP.
The fierce exchange of fire lasted for two hours, the spokesperson said, adding that the policemen remained safe.
Mianwali DPO Matiullah Khan reached the spot and lauded the lawmen for their valour.
Punjab police Inspector General Usman Anwar heaped praise on the Minawali police and reiterated the resolve to maintain law and order.
“The Punjab police will continue with their anti-terror combat and maintain the writ of the state.”
