England’s Ben Duckett expressed his satisfaction after scoring a century during the ongoing Test match against Pakistan in Multan.
Speaking to the media, Duckett stated, “I’m happy with my century today,” but acknowledged the challenges his team faced as the ball started to turn on the pitch.
“The ball began to turn, and that’s when we started losing wickets,” Duckett added.
He highlighted Pakistan's strong comeback during the third session of play, admitting that the home side’s bowlers shifted the momentum.
“Pakistan changed the game in the third session,” Duckett remarked. Despite the difficulties, he remained optimistic about England’s position in the match.
“We’re still in a good position, and the game will further change in the second innings,” he commented.
Duckett expressed hope that the conditions would be more favorable for England on the following day.
“I hope the pitch will assist us tomorrow morning,” he said, adding that the increased turn may have been due to the new ball. “Perhaps the new ball caused the extra turn,” he speculated.
Reflecting on his batting strategy, Duckett shared that he played several sweep shots, drawing on his past experience against Pakistan.
“The last time I played against Pakistan, I learned a lot. Today, I played many sweep shots,” he explained. He admitted that the increased spin during the third session made things difficult for England’s batsmen.
“We faced challenges as the ball spun more in the third session,” Duckett said.
Looking ahead, Duckett emphasized the importance of England extending their innings. “We’ll try to bat for as long as possible tomorrow,” he stated, focusing on the team’s strategy for the following day’s play.
Duckett continued that he hadn’t altered his natural game. “I haven’t changed my game; I play my natural style,” he said, confident in his approach as England aims to solidify their position in the Test.
