Oxford University has not included former Pakistani prime minister and PTI founder chairman Imran Khan’s name in the list of candidates to run for the position of the varsity's chancellor, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Nearly 40 candidates have been included in the list after their candidacy has been approved.

Imran Khan had submitted his papers for the post, but as he is imprisoned, a leading UK legal firm had pointed out that he was ineligible for Oxford chancellorship as per the university's regulations.

PML-N leader Khurram Butt claimed that Imran Khan’s name was excluded from the list of 38 candidates after he filed a petition against his candidature.

The first phase of the election for Oxford University Chancellor will be held on October 18 (Friday).
