What is being described as a milestone in Pakistan’s advancement in space technology, the country’s first multi-mission satellite, Paksat-MM1, has become operational courtesy the patronage of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
It is hoped that the development will bring about a change in the country’s communication system, which will eventually benefit different sectors of the IT sector.
The satellite will also improve the internet connectivity in far-flung areas.
Pakistan is now at the 136th position on the United Nations e-governance Development Index after a jump by 14 points.
In 2022, the country stood at 150th position.
It is also hoped that the satellite, by providing better broadcasting services, community internet and tele-education, will benefit local industries.
