Former Supreme Court judge Justice (retd) Tariq Pervaiz passed away in Peshawar, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.

Justice Tariq, who retired from the apex court in February 2013, had also served as the interim chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for holding general elections after taking oath in March 2013.

Later in 2014, he was appointed as the chief election commissioner.

His funeral prayers would be offered on Saturday at his residence located on Shami Road in Peshawar.

Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and other Supreme Court judges expressed their grief over the sad demise of the retired judge. They extended their condolences with the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
