Hafiz Naeem takes oath as JI chief

Newly-elected Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Thursday took the oath of his office at Mansoorah, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Naeemur Rehman became the 6th emir of JI Pakistan. After the oath ceremony, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman convened the meeting of Majlis-e-Aamla.

He will also chair the meeting of Majlis-e-Shura on Friday.

Naeemur Rehman, former emir JI Karachi chapter, was elected as the Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan with a majority vote following JI intra-party election which concluded on April 4. The oath-taking ceremony was attended by outgoing emir Sirajul Haq, Amiru Azeem, Liaquat Baloch, Dr Farid Paracha, Qaisar Sharif, Rashid Nasim, other leaders as well as workers and people from different walks of life.

JI spokesperson Qaisar Sharif yesterday told the media that Hafiz Naeem had arrived at the JI headquarters in Lahore to assume his new responsibilities.
