Pakistan women reel after West Indies post massive total in 1st one-dayer

The West Indian women cricket team was in a strong position in the first One-day International against Pakistan being played at Karachi Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

In replay to tourists’ massive total of 269 for the loss of eight wickets in 50 over, the hosts have lost their four top players for 91 runs by losing four wickets in 20 overs.

Earlier, the West Indian women set Pakistan team a target of 270 runs to win.

In the first encounter in the three-match series, the West Indies team won the toss against Pakistan and decided to bat first.

The West Indies team scored 269 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs, with captain Hayley Matthews playing an innings of 140 runs off 150 balls and remained not out.

Shemaine Campbelle scored 45, Sheneta Grimmond 23, Chedean Nation and Aliyah Alleyne scored 17 runs each, while Rashada Williams scored one, Stefanie Taylor 2, Afy Fletcher 4, Zaida James 8 runs before being run out, Karishma Ramharack scored 5 runs and remained not out.

From the national team, Sadia Iqbal and Tuba Hassan took two wickets each, while Nida Dar and Nashra Sandhu took one wicket each.
