KP's first monkeypox patient goes missing from home in Mardan

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department has confirmed that the first monkeypox patient has gone missing from his home in Mardan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


34-year-old Syed Muslim is married has been living in Mangam for 10 years. The patient has returned from Saudi Arabia on August 13. On his return, he was under treatment in Peshawar Hospital.


The patient was transferred from Peshawar to Mardan by Director Public Health Irshad Roghani. The individual, who had returned from Saudi Arabia, was diagnosed with monkeypox. The health department reported that the diagnosis was made in Peshawar. However, when a medical team visited the patient's residence to provide guidelines, the house was found locked.


The District Health Officer (DHO) of the patient's native area in Dir said that the patient was not present there either. The health ministry and relevant authorities are now intensifying their investigation.
