Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with State Bank of Pakistan Governor Jameel Ahmad in Lahore on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The chief minister and the SBP governor exchanged views on the economic situation in the meeting. They also deliberated on the issues of the Bank of Punjab and Punjab Cooperative Bank.
CM Naqvi said that his government wants to achieve the goal of higher production by giving subsidies and easy loans to farmers.
“It is necessary to minimize the financial burden on the small farmers for higher production,” the chief minister said.
CM Naqvi was of the view that people would benefit from the improvement in economic activities in agriculture and other sectors. The record production of cotton in Punjab will save $2 billion in foreign exchange, he added.
He said that the export of rice in Punjab is increasing by two billion dollars. “We are following the policy of giving all possible facilities to investors and industrialists.”
The chief minister said that the bullish trend in the stock exchange would have a positive effect on the industry.
SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad appreciated the valuable steps taken by Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi to improve agriculture and other sectors in Punjab. The governor said that better production of cotton, rice, and other crops would have a positive impact on the economy.
