Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz senior leader and Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan laid to rest in Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
His funeral prayers were attended by a large number of people from all walks of life. Mushahid Ullah was 68.
PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif offered condolences to the family of Mushahidullah. Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjarani and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi attended the funeral prayers.
On the demise of Mushahid Ullah Khan, President PML-N Shahbaz Sharif, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto, JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, Deputy Chairman Senate Saleem Mandviwala, Leader of the House in Senate Senator Shehzad Waseem, Information Minister Shibli Faraz, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and almost entire political figures expressed their grief and sorrow.
“Deeply hurt to learn about the demise of Senator #MushahidUllah. May Allah Almighty bless the departed soul in Jannah and give courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with equanimity. Aameen,” said Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, Shehryar Afridi.
PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “I feel like my family member has gone. He was like my father. Mushahid Ullah was a strong voice in the Senate against dictatorship for democracy.”
Maryam further said, “I had a father-daughter relationship with him. He guided and assisted me in every public rally and gave me political training.”
Mushahid Ullah Khan had been a member of the Senate of Pakistan from March 2009 till his death in February 2021. Khan was born in 1952 in Rawalpindi and died on February 18, 2021.
He did his early education at Islamia High School in Rawalpindi and completed graduation at Gordon College in Rawalpindi and received L.L.B. degree from Urdu Law College, the University of Karachi in 1997.
Khan was known for his high spirits in harshest times, well-versed man, good poetic tastes, and resounding laughters in political gatherings. He was one of those PMLN leaders who was arrested after the 1999 Pakistani coup d'état.
