Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one of the greatest directors Bollywood has ever seen.
Known for historical biopics, Bhansali, in collaboration with Netflix is producing a series about the era of Mughals and Sikhs Sarkar.
He shed light on the ruling elites' misdeeds –adultery, fornication, etc drinking and all sorts of immoral activities. The series will be on Netflix under the name “Heeramandi”.
For the unversed, it is actually a place in Lahore behind the Lahore fort where courtesans lived and entertained their business.
Bhansali digs out the realities of the pre-partition. He is telling the stories of courtesans. The series screens a tale of love, betrayal, succession, and politics set in the brothels of Lahore's infamous red light area.
Netflix India and Bhansali Productions today unveiled the first look of the series.
The caption of the first look stated "Another time, another era, another magical world created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali we can't wait to be a part of. Here is a glimpse into the beautiful and intriguing world of Heeramandi. Coming soon."
A very impressive cast for the series including huge names was revealed. The teaser showcased Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, and Sanjeeda Shaikh.
