Quetta Gladiators' mentor Sir Vivian Richards has praised their new recruit Mohammad Amir, the former Pakistan fast bowler who joined them from Karachi Kings in the PSL Draft, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Richards said Amir was a "classy" addition to the team and expected him to perform well in the 9th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
"Amir will be a classy inclusion for Quetta. I don't know if Amir will have pace similar to Naseem Shah but we are happy that an experienced player is part of the side," Richards told local media on Saturday.
Richards also expressed confidence in Quetta's chances of winning the title after a disappointing run in the previous seasons. He said the team had made some good changes and had a balanced squad for PSL 9.
"Quetta has not been able to do well over the past few years which is why the changes could be good for the side. I think we have formed a good team for PSL 9," he said.
The former West Indies batsman also advised Sarfaraz Ahmed, who was replaced as Quetta's captain by Rilee Rossouw, to focus on his batting and prove his worth in the tournament.
"I'm a big fan of Sarfaraz Ahmed. I'm sure the appointment of a new captain will take the pressure off Sarfaraz. I have asked him to prove his worth with the bat in PSL 9," he said.
Quetta will face Peshawar Zalmi in their opening match of PSL 9 on Sunday in Lahore.
