Seasoned politician Javed Hashmi has expressed his concerns about the situation after the election, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
“The elections were the strangest since the 70s and that he had never seen such a situation,” he said while addressing a press conference in Multan.
He said a party did not have an elector symbol and its workers were harassed and arrested by the police.
He said that Yasmin Rashid, who is in jail, could not go to her constituency. “She defeated Nawaz Sharif,” he said, adding that he wanted to explain that the election results should be accepted.
He continued: “The nation has left Nawaz Sharif. His family has left him.”
He said he respects public mandate.
“If the people wanted Imran Khan to come into power, let him come.” Javed Hashmi added.
Regarding the Rawalpindi commissioner’s rigging allegation, he reminded the media reps of his remarks about the ‘involvement’ Multan commissioner and the establishment in ‘election engineering’ before the Feb 8 vote.
He said that he was offered all-out support to contest the elections, but he refused to do so.
“Before the election, I said the Multan commissioner is influencing the electioneering.
"I got a message through Ijaz Janjua that if you contest the election you will be provided with all the facilities," he added.
The seasoned politician said he withdrew from the contest after a discussion with friends.
He claimed that the Multan administration changed the election results. “Four/five commissioners of Punjab are involved in election manipulation."
