Liaquat Chattha’s statement a well-planned conspiracy, says Khawaja Asif

PML-N leader and former defence minister Khawaja Asif has said that allegations levelled by former Rawalpindi commissioner was a “well-planned conspiracy” to create confusion about the general elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


Talking to media in Sialkot on Sunday, the PML-N leader said that the entire election process was based on returning officers and district returning officers in the country. The former Commissioner had a particular background. “Why he remained silent for eight days,” Kh Asif questioned.


Responding to a question, the former minister said 87 percent of electricity worth 900 billion rupees was being stolen in different cities. He said the people have to bear the consequences of the theft. He said “gas and electricity theft has become our national culture”. He demanded that power and gas sector should be privatized.


Kh Asif said Maryam Nawaz will be PML-N’s candidate for Punjab Chief Minister as the party has attained simple majority in the general elections. He said PML-N had a working partnership with the PPP.


The PML-N leader claimed that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was still respected by the PML-N; however, it was surprising that the JUI-F chief had entered into an alliance with the PTI who rigged elections in KP. He said for economic stability political stability is mandatory.


Kh Asif leader said Election Commission of Pakistan announced a committee to probe the facts after commissioner’s statement and within three day the facts will be made public.


He advised that politicians must think above their personal interests. He said new development came last night about formation of the government at the Centre. The PML-N leader also commended the caretaker government for doing a good job.
