Former Rawalpindi commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha said he will expose the name of the person who asked him to engineer the election, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

Sources said in his opening statement, he said: “The name of the person who asked me to go for fraud will be exposed before the court or the commission.”

“I am perfectly healthy mentally. I have never even taken a sleeping pill. I am sticking to what it said. It was the voice of my conscience.” He added.

The sources said he was ordered to be detained immediately after his suicide statement.

Chatha stepped down after accepting responsibility for "rigging" in the February 8 election.

"We converted the losers into winners, reversing margins of 70,000/80,0000 votes in 13 National Assembly seats," he told the media at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

"I and the election commissioner should be penalized over rigging. I surrender to the police,” he added.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) refuted the allegations and issued a statement announcing a comprehensive inquiry would be launched soon.
