Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said Monday he was pleased to inaugurate a housing project for the labourers despite limited resources, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of New Labour City at Sukkur, he said it was Sindh where the first Labour Policy had been introduced. “PPP is sticking to its ideology and manifesto,” he claimed.
PPP chairman said the former prime minister and party’s founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (ZAB) had fought for the rights of labourers and other poor segments of the society. “Former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and former president Asif Ali Zardari had also pursued pro-workers policies. Sindh Assembly has passed more workers’ friendly laws than any other provincial assembly in the country,” he boasted.
Bilawal said the party even took steps to make labourers owners of their mills and factories.
He further said Zardari got provinces their rights. “We are still the voice of jobless youth,” he added.
PPP chairman said Prime Minister Imran Khan had promised the construction of 10 million homes in his manifesto, but that promise was still to be fulfilled.
He recalled that ZAB had launched five-marla housing scheme for labourers in Punjab besides launching similar schemes in other provinces. “The PTI government does not want to build homes for the poor, but for the billionaires. The government’s housing scheme is in fact a mean to turn black money into white,” Bilawal alleged.
He said it was unfortunate that people’s homes were being demolished in the name of the anti-encroachment operation.
PPP chairman held the federal government responsible for short gas supply to Sindh. “However, we are determined to foil every ‘conspiracy’ of the government. We will show this government the door, and bring a pro-people government in its place instead.” he vowed.
Meanwhile, around 1024 flats have been distributed among labourers for free as Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari inaugurated the New Labour City at Sukkur on Monday.
Six thousand more flats would be distributed under the project whose foundation stone had been laid by former president Asif Ali Zardari.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Nisar Khuhro, Saeed Ghani, Syed Nasir Shah, Shazia Marri, Jam Ikramullah, Owais Shah, Imtiaz Shaikh, Sohail Anwer Sial, Farrukh Shah, Nawab Wasan and Arsalan Sheikh accompanied PPP chairman on the occasion.
