Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Monday that intelligence officials were calling PML-N parliamentarians, telling them not to resign from the assemblies.
Speaking on Nasim Zehra’s live show Nasim Zehra @8, Abbasi said, “We would like to believe when the army leadership says they do not want to be involved in politics any longer. We will wait and see if this resolve translates into action. As for now, even recently three or four parliamentarians got calls from intelligence officers who told them not to submit their resignations.”
When asked by the anchor if the intelligence officers gave any justification for asking the PML-N parliamentarians not to resign, the former prime minister said no reasons were given. In fact, he said, it was about applying pressure on the parliamentarians. He said the calls were received over the last 8 to 10 days.
