The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday disposed of the petition filed by PTI stalwart Murad Saeed against the rejection of his nomination papers after he said he was not contesting the general elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Pronouncing the decision, a larger bench of the PHC said that the appellate tribunal had rejected the petitioner’s papers on technical grounds.
Murad is the third PTI leader after Shafqat Mehmood and Azam Swati who has said he is backing down.
Yesterday the PHC had disposed of Swati’s plea against the rejection of his nomination papers after his counsel informed the bench that he had decided against contesting the election.
During the hearing, the lawyer representing Azam Swati informed the PHC that he had returned the party ticket and was no more in the race for this year’s election.
The judge remarked that if he was not contesting the election, he should withdraw the plea as well.
After Swati’s counsel withdrew the plea, the PHC disposed of the matter.
