Two CTD officials involved in kidnapping for ransom arrested in Karachi

Crime Investigation Agency’s (CIA) unit Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) has arrested two officials of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) from Karachi who were involved in kidnapping for ransom, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.


According to CIA officials, the accused in plain clothes carried out an illegal raid on the software house along with CTD's mobile, kidnapped a citizen from Mahmudabad and withdrew Rs220,000 from his bank account through ATM.


The accused officials demanded another one million rupees from the victim, officials said.


They said when the officials came to collect another one million rupees, the AVCC arrested them.


A citizen named Yasir Javed had registered a case of kidnapping for ransom against the accused, officials said.


The officials said that six more people were involved in the incident along with the accused and raids are on to arrest the others.


CTD officials Faheem and Mohammad Ahmed have been dismissed from service, officials said.


Official said that on January 15, eight CTD officials, involved in kidnapping for ransom were dismissed.


DIG CTD had dismissed two inspectors and six officials, officials said.
