Punjab residents now will not be able to get their vehicles registered in other provinces or the federal capital as the provincial government has planned to discourage such practice, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
According to authorities, the Punjab Excise Department has obtained approval from the Cabinet to bar registration of vehicles in other provinces and Islamabad.
To save tax, citizens get their vehicles registered in other provinces or the federal government, Excise authorities said.
Tax collection and security issues from registration in other provinces or the federal government were piling up.
Penalties will also be imposed on Punjab CNIC holders getting their vehicles registered in other provinces.
An effort will be made to control registration outside Punjab by keeping in mind the district codes of NADRA.
Despite the ban, those who register their vehicles will be stopped during checking and fines will also be collected on reregistration.
There is already a law to re-register vehicles registered in other provinces or the federal government in Punjab.
After the cabinet approval, a summary is being sent to the government for legislation soon.
