The courts in Lahore and Islamabad on Saturday remanded PTI leaders Shehryar Afridi and Ejaz Chaudhry in police custody, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad handed over PTI leader Shehryar Afridi to the police on a two-day physical remand.
The court heard a case registered against Afridi on the incidents of May 9 in the I-Nine police station. Afridi was produced in the court of Judge Naveed Khan.
The investigation officer requested a 5-day physical remand of Afridi, pleading that his photogrammetric and voice matching should be done. But the court granted only a two-day physical remand.
Judicial Magistrate Naveed Khan allowed Afridi to meet his family in the courtroom.
Afridi came to the rostrum and got emotional. He said his brother passed away but he was not allowed to attend the funeral. It is my constitutional right to protest, I did not take the law into my hands, he asserted.
While talking to media outside Islamabad Katchehri, Afridi said, “Let me make it clear that I did not put Rana Sanaullah in jail at all during my tenure as state minister for interior. The head of the anti-narcotics force is a major general. The ANF arrested Sanaullah on the basis of some intelligence report. They had everything against Sanaullah.”
He said he never did injustice to anyone. “If you are truthful, then only the Lord is sufficient for you,” he said.
Three-day physical remand of Ejaz Ch granted
Separately, an anti-terrorism court in Lahore granted a three-day physical remand of PTI leader Ejaz Chaudhry.
Ejaz Chaudhry was summoned from jail in a case related to the torching of the Shadman police station.
Anti-Terrorism Court Admin Judge Abhar Gul Khan heard the case.
SP Hasan Javed did not allow journalists to enter the courtroom. Policemen stood blocking the way at the door of the court.
