Cleric Nasir Madni said on Tuesday that some people thrashed him for making a YouTube video on coronavirus.
Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club, the cleric said he made a video on coronavirus a couple of days ago. After that, he said, he received an unknown WhatsApp call from abroad and the caller asked him to go to Kharian, a city in Gujrat district, for a prayer ceremony. He said that unidentified armed men kidnapped him and shifted him to Kharian where they beat him up severely. He said: "They stripped me naked and made my video."
Madni said he was tortured because he made a video on coronavirus. He said that his kidnappers took his YouTube password and mobile at gunpoint. He took his shirt off and showed the media torture marks on his body.
The cleric appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to provide him security and take action against his tormentors.
