Four killed as Karachi’s Unity Monument falls due to stormy rain

Karachi Tuesday experienced stormy weather with heavy rains that fell down the Unity Monument at DHA and killed four people.

According to 24NewsHD TV Channel, in different incidents of wall and roof collapse, four people including a couple died while several trees and billboards were caved in.

Due to strong wind in the city, the Unity Monument installed at the Defense Housing Society (DHA) phase-7 Chowrangi (Squair) was blown away that was later removed by using heavy machinery. 

The Clifton Cantonment Board and the traffic police opened the link roads to the Chowrangi after the removal of debris of the monument.

A roof of a house collapsed at Baldia Dabba Colony in which a couple killed. The rescue teams immediately shifted the dead bodies to Civil Hospital.

In Baldia No. 12, a man identified as Nasir son of Usman Omar was killed when the roof of his house collapsed near Baldia No. 12.

As per the report of the rescue teams, a ten years old child was also killed in a wall collapse in the city. In another incident, a house was collapsed near Sher Shah Mohammadi Turn.
