Students blocked the road Wednesday in front of secretariat in Lahore and protested against the Punjab Workers Welfare Board over non-payment of their university fees, 24NewsHD TV channel.
The protesting students blamed the workers welfare board for using delaying tactics to pay the university fees of the children of registered government employees.
While talking to media, they said that their portals had been closed, and they were being evicted from hostels over non-payment of fees by the board.
They maintained that an amount of about Rs3 billion was due to Punjab Workers Welfare Board, adding that they were facing many difficulties due to non-payment of the money by the board and their future was at risk.
They also said that their university had banned their entry to the campus, demanding that the university should be directed to allow them to attend classes.
They also stressed the need for a permanent future plan by the university and the workers welfare board so that the students were not bothered repeatedly.
The also blamed the administration of the office of Punjab Workers’ Welfare Board for manhandling them and evicting them from the office over protest for not paying their dues.
They also vowed to continue the protest until their demands are met.
The students’ protest disturbed the flow of traffic.
Police officials and traffic wardens were present on the occasion to prevent an untoward incident.
