Six dacoits were shot dead in an alleged encounter with the police in Iqbal Town area of Lahore on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to police, the dacoits entered a house in Iqbal Town to commit a robbery.
The alert family wasted no time in informing the police through emergency call on 15.
On seeing the police’s quick response, the dacoits panicked and opened fire on the police party.
In the intense ensuing battle, six dacoits were killed.
Lesco meter reader stabbed in line of duty
A Lesco meter reader was seriously injured when he was stabbed in the line of duty in Shahdara Town near Lahore on Saturday.
A footage from closed-circuit TV that one Ali Imran got in argument with meter reader Kashif. He then picked up a knife from a shop and stabbed Kashif.
According to police, the accused injured the Kashif who came to perform his duty. The accused Ali Imran is in the custody of the Shahdara Town Police.
Further investigation and action is being taken against the accused, said the police.
Police said that LESCO staff had installed skimming meters to prevent electricity theft.
