The spillways of Rawal Dam in Islamabad were opened on Monday after the water level in the dam reached its full capacity following a downpour in the federal capital all night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The dam has the capacity of storing water of up to 1, 752 feet, while last night the water level had touched that level.

Extra water was discharged from the dam to bring it down to 1, 750 feet.

Rain accompanied by thunderstorm lashed the twin cities —Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Sunday night as dozens of feeders were tripped and various low-lying areas and roads were inundated prompting the Iesco to launch post-rain operation.

Islamabad Electric Supply Co. IESCO operation teams have resumed work on fault and tripping on several feeders that were tripped amid heavy rains with thunder and lightning in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and surrounding areas.
