Twin cities experiencing constant rise in dengue cases

The twin cities are experiencing a constant rise in dengue cases as another 141 people have been diagnosed with the mosquito-borne viral infection in Islamabad and 112 in Rawalpindi, of whom the condition of 44 patients is serious, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Islamabad district health officer on Monday informed that during past 24 hours, 141 dengue cases were reported in Islamabad and the total number of cases was 2,089. According to the break-up, 1,310 people in rural areas have contracted dengue virus and 779 have been diagnosed with dengue fever in urban areas of the city. The virus has already taken lives of 6 people in Islamabad so far.

In Rawalpindi, 112 contracted dengue virus during past 48 hours and the condition of 44 patients is stated to be precarious. As many as 274 dengue patients are being treated in the Allied Hospital, Rawalpindi.

Giving an update on the dengue situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial health department disclosed that 107 cases were reported during last 24 hours. As many as 4,045 people have been infected by the dengue virus while 5 patients lost their lives in the province.

Overall, 237 patients are being treated in hospitals of the province. 

According to the KP health department, during past 24 hours, 75 people have contracted the viral infection in Peshawar; 10 in Mansehra; 7 in Abbottabad and 4 in Nowshera.
