A three-hundred per cent hike in car registration card fee is likely as the government’s contract with the card company ended, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
The excise and taxation authorities stated that the five-year agreement with the Inbox Business Technology Company ended in May.
The financial bid was opened and the bidding companies were given a 300% additional rate compared to the current price.
The Inbox Company, bidding the least price gave Rs1,485 per card whereas ‘Jazz’ gave a price of Rs1675 per card in the financial bid.
As per the contract that ended, the Inbox company charged the excise department Rs438 per card for which the public was charged Rs530.
