The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted protective bail to the wife, son and daughter-in-law of former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi.

The court granted the 7-day protective bail to the three family members of Parvez Elahi, asking them to submit surety bonds of Rs20000 each.

Advocate Sardar Abdul Raziq appeared on behalf of the petitioners and Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Amir Farooq conducted the in-chamber hearing. 

The court was told that the petitioners were subjected to political persecution.  The court also ordered the petitioners to approach the court concerned within seven days. A case has been registered against the petition in Lahore on 19 July 2023
