The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Umar Attabandial, in a letter written to the Speaker National Assembly regarding the 50th anniversary of the Constitution of Pakistan, has said that the Parliament should make laws that meet the constitutional standards.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, in his letter to the Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, the Chief Justice has explained the reason for non-participation in the ceremony held in the Parliament on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Constitution of Pakistan.
The CJP told the Speaker that he could not attend the ceremony in the Parliament due to his judicial engagements.
In the letter, he said that the Constitution assigns the power and important responsibility to the Parliament to make laws in the state following the Constitution.
He said the laws under the Constitution of Pakistan decide the destiny of the nation and the state in terms of achieving political, social and economic goals.
The Chief Justice has said in the letter that he wishes that the Parliament should frame such good laws that meet the high standards of the Constitution of Pakistan.
Furthermore, Justice Umar Attabandial also expressed his wish that these laws guide the nation in development, prosperity and peace as per the Constitution.
