Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has advised Punjab government to revisit the prices of wheat as agriculture sector is the backbone of the country.
Talking to media in Hujra Shah Muqim after offering condolences over the demise of Syed Ijaz Shah Gilani, Chairman Senate advised Punjab government should review wheat rates, adding that “if the farmer is happy, the country will be happy”.
Earlier, Raza Gilani offered condolences with Sajjada Nashin Syed Asad Ali Gilani, Syed Haider Ali Gilani and MNA Syed Raza Ali Gilani.
Chairman Senate said PPP supports the statement made by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto who warned federal government that PPP would quit the government’s support if the canal issue is not resolved.
He said the statement made by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari about separation from the government is the party's decision. Steps will have to be taken for the farmers of the entire country and this is the responsibility of all the provinces. Effective steps will have to be taken for the welfare of the farmers.
