The Pakistan Peoples Party which bemoans the decision to delay the general election has decided to hold a high-level meeting of its senior leadership, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
According to sources, the PPP has decided to hold a huddle in the wake of the vote postponement decision by the Election Commission of Pakistan. The party has started mulling charting out a strategy during a high-level meeting to be summoned soon of its senior leadership.
Sources said that the PPP is pondering supporting the Supreme Court Bar Association over its demand to hold timely elections in the country.
The party is also considering making contacts with its allied parties on the issue of holding elections on time.
The important leaders of the PPP have conveyed their reservations vis-av-is delay in the polls to their superior leadership.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday announced that the demarcation of all constituencies of the national and provincial assemblies would be made afresh in the light of new 7th Digital Census 2023 results, which means that the next general election would not be held within 90 days.
Last month, the Council of Common Interests approved the new census, making it obligatory for the ECP to carry out fresh delimitations.
