Former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan has tasked party stalwart Asad Qaiser with resolving the intra-party differences, which developed after the resignation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Communication and Works Shakil Ahmad Khan after he was found involved in corrupt practices, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Quoting its sources, the channel reported that the PTI founder had also asked three party leaders to come and see him in Adiala Jail so that he could listen to their viewpoints following the minister’s resignation.
They informed that the former prime minister would hold meetings with the ex-minister Shakil and Atif Khan.
He would also meet with Junaid Akbar, sources explained.
Both Atif and Junaid, while disagreeing with the findings of the committee formed to probe graft charges against Shakil, had thrown their weight behind him.
A few days ago, Shakil had resigned as a KP minister citing ‘corruption’ within the provincial government.
“I cannot go along with the corruption anymore and have been compelled to quit his job,” the minister had said in his resignation letter submitted to the chief minister.
Shakil also said he would give more explanation of the reasons for his resignation at the KP Assembly session.
