PML-N leader Ata Tarar has said the assemblies will complete terms and the election will be on time, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Monday.
Punjab governor’s directives to the CM for seeking a vote of confidence have been conveyed, he said while talking to the media outside the Punjab Assembly.
When a motion of no confidence is raised against the Chief Minister, then the assembly is not dissolved, he stressed adding that snap polls are out of the question.
However, he said the alliance is ready for the election. All the allies deliberated upon the ongoing situation and devised a line of action to get rid of the crisis, Tarar said, adding that the rights of the people will be protected at all costs.
Allied parties, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) submitted a no-confidence motion against Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi, Speaker Sabtain Khan, and Deputy Speaker Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi to the Punjab Assembly Secretariat.
Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman directed Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi to take a vote of confidence. “As a Governor, I agree that Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has lost the confidence of the majority of the House. Therefore, under Article 130 (7) of the Constitution, I call for a meeting of the Punjab Assembly on December 21 at 4 pm in which the CM takes a vote of confidence,” the governor directed.
