A Norwegian ship was hit by an "unidentified object" in the Red Sea on Monday, its owner said, as a series of shipping companies have suspended transit in the region following Yemeni rebel attacks.

"Fortunately, there were no injuries to any members of the Indian crew, and the vessel has reported limited damage to the vessel," Norway's Inventor Chemical Tankers said in a statement.

"The Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a... military operation against two ships linked to the Zionist entity" using sea planes, said a statement that identified the first vessel as the Swan Atlantic and the second as the MSC Clara.
