Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has decided to appear before the Lahore High Court (LHC) at 2:00 pm on February 20 (tomorrow) to seek protective bail in a case registered against him over protests outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office.

PTI central leader Dr Yasmin Rashid confirmed the news saying that after a meeting of the PTI core committee, it has been decided that the PTI chairman will appear before the court.

The PTI chairman had approached the LHC after an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad canceled his bail last week.

Imran was on interim bail in the case and the anti-terrorism court had ordered him to come to court in person, but he had failed to make an appearance yet again.

As per sources, the party has also approached the LHC for security clearance for Imran, and PTI leader Shibli Faraz has applied regarding the issue to Administrative Judge Abid Aziz Shaikh.

A request was made in the application that in view of the threats to the former prime minister’s life, security clearance should be issued before his appearance.

The PTI chairman is expected to appear in the LHC after receiving security clearance from the administrative judge.

Following the dismissal of one of Imran’s protective bails as “non-prosecution” despite assurances that the former prime minister would appear in court, and the adjournment of the second bail until February 20 after the party provided an assurance of his appearance, Imran decided to show up in court.
