A doctor deployed on polio duty along with his driver was seriously injured in firing on his car in Bajaur, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali immediately took notice of the firing incident. He held a telephonic contact with Bajaur deputy commissioner and sought details of the attack.
The DC told the governor that bullets were sprayed on the car of Dr Abdul Rehman who was performing polio duty. The doctor and his driver sustained injuries, he added.
He said that Dr Abdul Rehman was critically injured and the doctors advised to immediately shift him to some hospital in Peshawar.
The governor then contacted the KP chief secretary and asked him to arrange for a helicopter to airlift Dr Rehman to Peshawar.
On the governor’s order, the chief secretary has sent a helicopter with two doctors to Bajaur to airlift Dr Rehman to the Combined Military Hospital, Peshawar.
